PBIS Primary - Czech for Foreigners (optional)

Czech lessons for Foreigners - Beginners and Intermediates (optional) at PBIS Primary

Dear parents of British Y1-6 classes,

Are you new to this country? Do you plan to stay here for a while and would you like your child to learn basic Czech so that he/she can easily get around Prague?

or

Did your child study Czech for foreigners last school year? Did he/she enjoy it and would you like him/her to continue studying Czech this academic year as well?

If your answer to these questions is "yes", we are ready to help you.

PBIS Primary will continue leading Czech lessons for foreigners. If your child is a beginner/intermediate or advanced, he/she can study Czech as a foreign language for up to three 30-minute sessions per week. These sessions will be held during the school day (Kamýk campus) and after school as part of ECA (Vlastina campus). Please see individual timetables.

The lessons start during the 3rd school week - 12th September to 16th September 2022.

Kamýk: Lessons take place every Mon, Tue and Fri from 13:40 - 14:20 for Y1 - Y3 / 14:20 - 15:10 for Y4 - Y6. Teachers of individual year groups are listed in the table below.

Kamýk: Those who will not study Czech as a foreign language will attend English support, intervention groups, yoga, or other activities prepared by teachers.

Places in each year group are limited and the registration system operates on a first-come-first-served basis.

If your child attended CFF lessons last school year, he/she will be automatically enrolled in the CFF program this academic year.

If your child attended CFF lessons last school year, and you are NOT interested in him/her continuing studying CFF this academic year, please inform Ms. Michaela Černá or Mrs. Petra O'Leary by email until 12/09/2022. Email contacts can be found below.

If your child did not attend CFF last school year and you are interested in having him/her participate in the CFF program this year, please fill out the sign-up form.

Children who already have a basic knowledge of Czech and / or Slavic background and would like to continue studying the Czech language may attend one of the Czech after school clubs lead by our Czech teachers or TAs. The main purpose of these clubs is to further improve the Czech language and can be used as a bridge between Czech for foreigners and the Czech programme (a programme for native speakers of Czech).

More information about this can be found under PBIS Clubs.

In addition, I recommend this programme to all parents who will be applying for Czech citizenship for their child, as I will be able to give you confirmation of Czech language studies at the level required by the Foreign Police.

If you would like your child to study Czech for foreigners, please complete this sign-up form.

IF YOU DO NOT WISH FOR YOUR CHILD TO STUDY CZECH FOR FOREIGNERS - YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING
